Holy dead comm..
worth a try though.
I'm going to California in two weeks and i'm trying to get some things for the person i'm seeing that he's never seen/eaten from Canada.
This includes Smarties of course, but i wanted to know if anyone knew of other things like that which they don't have in the U.S.
Thanks ahead o' time. :D

a dark day
Blue Day For Smartie Firm
The way they were!
Blue Smarties are to be stopped because the makers cannot find a way to colour them without artificial colouring.
Nestle Rowntree says the blue Smarties will be replaced with white ones
( :( ) from next month.
Nestle is making the changes as part of its move to remove artificial colourings from its sweets.
Artificial colourings and flavourings in sweets have been linked with child hyperactivity and behaviour problems.
A Nestle spokeswoman said the company wanted to "improve the nutritional qualities" of its products.
"It's difficult to reproduce the blue colouring with natural colouring, which is why we are removing that colour of sweet," she told the Daily Express.
The coated chocolates were launched in 1937 but the first blue Smarties did not appear until 1989.
Nestle has already removed colourings from Fruit Pastilles and Fruit Gums.
Meanwhile, the Pot Noodle is to be relaunched as a healthy snack without artificial chemicals and preservatives.
Makers Unilever will also cut the salt content by 33%, says the Daily Mail.Source

Hey, I just joined. I am outraged by the removal of Smarties tubes & the lids.
My Mother is a Brownie leader & when she took it over she inherited a large Quality Street tin filled with Smartie lids. She uses them to play games with her Brownies by using them as counters & suchlike.
It's so awful that these will become dated. It just proves that kids nowadays cannot be entertained by spelling out their names. Kids today. =p

Hey folks, sorry I left you all for so long. I'd like to start my return by welcoming all of the new members that joined while I was away.
I'm afraid that this entry will be rather short and will bear little significane to anything Smarties related, mostly due to the fact that it's half 12 here and I've got to be out of the house by 7am to go to work.
I promise very sincerely to post in more depth towards the end of the week, just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well and have not forgotten about you.
See you all soon Current Mood: refreshed

Guess what I've just found!
Oh wow, what a find! As I'm sat here, bored at work, I look around and notice this orange object behind my TV. I take a closer look and realise that it's a Smarties
lid with the letter O
on it! I'm well chuffed! Just as I was thinking about the death of the Smarties
tubes as well! Current Mood: ecstatic
Allow me to introdue you all to icklepenguin
who is now assisting to maintain this community. He will be taking up the reins during periods where I am indisposed and helping me when I'm about.
Please be nice to him.
Thank you. Current Mood: grateful

WOW, sooo many people
Thank you all for joining. It's fantastic to see such an ever growing number of you out supporting Smarties tubes.
However, as well as the thank you there is another point to this post. Please all look after the community for me for a week and a half coz I'm going to be away. It's very inconsiderate of Nestle to have announced this so close to my holiday but I have to go. I cannot say for certain if I will be able to look in on you at all after tomorrow as the house I'm going to stay at is devoid of a computer at all (there are still some homes like that, I can assure you).
Therefore I want all you boys and girls to play nicely. First thing I do when I get back to my PC will be to have a look and see how you're all doing (probably before I check my main friends list, that's dedication for you).
You all have fun, and keep up the good work.
PS it'd be great to have a community of fifty when I come back... Current Mood: indescribable
S.O.S. (save our smarties!)
How dare Nestle take our memories away! When we were children, we were careful not to spill them when we took the lid off! (This is one of the reasons for making a flip top lid!) You have to do everything for the kids nowadays, next thing they'll be asking us to eat them for them so the little dears don't choke!
Pick me, pick me.... Current Mood: annoyed
"Used" Smarties??? Er...
Just spotted this ad on Google:
New & used Smarties.
Check out the deals now!
What the hell is a point of a hexagonal tube! Its just so.. boring!
An im doing this piece of maths coursework at the moment, where we have to work out the most effective shape for guttering (or something :-s ) and basically we have to prove that a circle pipe has a bigger volume than a hexagonal one!
Its a con damit!
Save the tube! Current Mood: irate
Me and my battleaxe are here to save the smartie tubes! Current Mood: cheerful
